With the real heat of this unusual Australian summer just around the corner, refreshing cool wines hits just the right spot even for ardent red wine drinkers like me. When it comes refreshing cool wines, the hottest wines on the planet at the minute are probably Rosé wines.
For Europe, people there are drinking Côtes de Provence Rosé. A subtle blend generally of Grenache and Cinsault, these grapes once crushed and pressed get minimal skin contact resulting in that beautiful rose coloured wines. These wine have delicate rose petal and strawberry flavours, finishing with crisp clean acidity making them perfect for a cold glass in the sun. Our Triennes Rosé is a great example of this. This wine is of great quality with those strawberry and floral characters and clean acidity and represents super value.
Not to be out done, Australia is now producing some very good Rosé too. Our Rosé are made with different grapes depending on the region they come from, sometimes Pinot Noir, sometimes Shiraz or Grenache. One such example is our Take It To The Grave from the Barossa Valley. It is made from Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro grapes which is not out of place in Côtes de Provence. It is a cracking wine with lots of flavour and crisp acidity and also great value.
So the time is now to stock up on some of these fantastic Rosé for your summer in the sun time, always a great excuse to forget about work or the kids for a few minutes.
